What makes a good CAHI capstone?
Completion requirements
A strong CAHI capstone should:
- address a real and clearly defined healthcare or information problem;
- demonstrate applied health informatics thinking;
- have a manageable scope;
- produce something tangible, such as a redesigned workflow, information model, prototype, decision-support approach, data-quality intervention, implementation design, or similar output;
- include a reasonable way to evaluate the proposed improvement; and
be feasible within the program timeframe and available resources.
Your capstone is not expected to solve an entire health-system problem or deploy enterprise technology. A well-designed and evaluated prototype or improvement model can be an excellent capstone.
