Welcome to Foundations of Health Informatics!
This course introduces you to the core ideas that shape how information is used in healthcare. You will learn what health informatics is, how it supports people (clinicians, patients, data teams), how technology is used in real health settings, and how health data flows through systems.
Using practical examples from oncology and LMIC contexts, the course focuses on paper, digital, and hybrid workflows, documentation challenges, data quality, and decision‑making.
By the end of the course, you will be able to identify informatics gaps in your own setting and begin thinking about solutions for your capstone project.
Please ensure to complete all assigned reading and resources available to you.Â
