Dear CAHI Learners,
Following additional feedback and careful review of learner experience, we have made a refinement to the CAHI program schedule to better support learning progression, workload balance, and overall success.
Over the past week, many of you have shared thoughtful feedback regarding the challenge of balancing coursework with work responsibilities, family commitments, travel, and other personal obligations. We appreciate your honesty and your continued commitment to the program. After reviewing learner feedback and overall program progress, we have approved two Academic Recovery & Reflection Periods that will provide dedicated time for learners to catch up on coursework, review feedback, meet with mentors, strengthen understanding of course material, and prepare for upcoming learning activities.
The first Academic Recovery & Reflection Period is already under way from May 25 through June 7, 2026, immediately following completion of Clinical Workflow & Nursing Informatics (CCD) and Health Data Standards & Interoperability (DHS). The Electronic Health Records (EHRs) & Health IT Systems course will begin on June 8, 2026.
A second Academic Recovery & Reflection Period will occur from August 31 through September 6, 2026, following Research Informatics & Data Management.
During both Academic Recovery & Reflection Periods:
- No new lectures will be released.
- No new assignments will be assigned.
- No new discussions will be required.
- No quizzes or graded assessments will be due.
- Participation requirements will be suspended.
Instead, these periods are intended to help you:
- Complete outstanding assignments.
- Review instructor feedback.
- Meet with mentors.
- Strengthen areas where you need additional support.
- Prepare for upcoming courses and capstone activities.
- Maintain a healthier balance between professional, personal, and academic responsibilities.
In addition, elective courses will now be offered during a dedicated two-week period from September 7 through September 20, 2026. This change allows learners to engage more fully in their chosen elective without competing demands from core coursework. You must successfully complete 1 elective course.
The CAHI program remains rigorous and academically demanding. These refinements are not intended to reduce expectations or learning outcomes. Rather, they are designed to support sustained success, reduce burnout, improve assignment completion rates, and enhance the overall learning experience.
We encourage all learners to use the upcoming recovery periods intentionally and proactively. Learners who are behind on assignments should use this time to make meaningful progress, while those who are current can use the opportunity to deepen their learning, connect with mentors, and begin thinking about capstone projects.
A revised program calendar is attached, and also uploaded to the Moodle platform.
Thank you for your continued dedication, professionalism, and engagement. We are proud of the progress you have made and look forward to supporting your success throughout the remainder of the program.
Warm regards,
Dr. Chamberlain Nwanne, PhD
