Hello everyone,

My name is Janiel Johnson, and I am based in Houston, Texas. I recently earned my Master of Public Health in Health Promotion. I currently work at U.S. VETS Houston as a Healthcare Consultant and Navigator, collaborating closely with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

My professional background includes experience in public health, working with low-income communities, and advocacy roles in both the U.S. Navy and the civilian sector.

I plan to pursue the Clinical & Care Delivery (CCD) track, as it aligns with my experience and supports my goal of advancing into a leadership role. I am interested in health informatics because I want to strengthen my technical skills and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving field.

One challenge I see in my current health system is limited patient access to medical records, which often requires contacting providers directly. Improving secure, streamlined access to these records would enhance efficiency and patient care.

Through this program, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of health informatics and apply these skills in my professional work.

Hi Johnson, it's great to meet you.

You mentioned an integral problem regarding limited access of patients to medical records. I think this problem exists across different spheres of healthcare, especially in LMICs. I also agree that transitioning to a patient-centered informatics model should be a clinical necessity to ensure health equity and timely care.

Looking forward to engaging and learning more from you during this experience.
