Hello Everyone,
My name is Mbakwe Davidson Chijioke, and I am currently a resident doctor in Radiation and Clinical Oncology at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos State.
Over the course of my residency, I have seen firsthand how poor file storage and retrieval systems create significant bottlenecks in patient care. During emergencies, when time is most critical, delays in accessing a patient’s previous treatment records or investigation results can impact clinical decision-making. Beyond patient care, these same challenges make it difficult to conduct quality research studies, since data is often incomplete, disorganized, or inaccessible.
These experiences sparked my interest in Health Informatics. I believe that well-designed digital health systems can bridge these gaps — improving care coordination, reducing delays, and enabling better use of clinical data for both service delivery and research.
I am hopeful that the knowledge and skills I will gain from this program will equip me to help design and implement more efficient electronic medical record systems in my facility. I intend to pursue the Clinical and Care Delivery track, as it aligns closely with my goal of improving how we deliver care at the point of service.
I am truly excited to be part of this cohort. I look forward to learning from the diverse experiences in this group and collaborating with you all as we work toward better digital health solutions.
