Welcome to the Applied Health Informatics Certificate Program

Dear Colleagues,

It was a pleasure meeting you during orientation. I’m excited to officially welcome you to the Applied Health Informatics Certificate Program.

You are now part of a select group of professionals committed to improving how healthcare systems use data, technology, and workflows to deliver better outcomes.

Why This Program Matters

Across many health systems, especially in LMICs we see common challenges:

  • Data captured but not used
  • Fragmented systems
  • Paper-based workflows
  • Digital tools without lasting impact

The gap is not technology; it is the workforce.

This program is designed to help you bridge care delivery and digital systems in practical and sustainable ways.

What to Expect

Over the next six months, you will learn how to:

  • Understand data flow across health systems
  • Identify workflow and documentation gaps
  • Apply informatics to real-world problems

This is not a passive experience.

You will be expected to think, engage, question, and apply. The faculty is ready and willing to help you excel.

Your First Task

Please post in the Introduction Forum. As you introduce yourself, reflect on:

Then engage with your peers—this is a collaborative learning environment, and your cohort is one of your greatest resources.

A Final Thought

Over the course of this program, you will begin to see healthcare differently.

You will see:

  • Systems behind the care
  • Data behind the decisions
  • Processes behind the outcomes

And most importantly, you will begin to understand how to improve them.

I look forward to learning with you and supporting your journey.
